Experimental Investigation on Auto-Ignition Characteristics of Kerosene Spray Flames

To facilitate the better use of RP-3 kerosene in compression ignition engines, auto-ignition behaviors spray were experimentally investigated an optical rapid machine. Results show that most tests have good ignitability and combustion performance. For all successful ignited cases, flame kernel was found to be formed before steep rise pressure, which explained image-based delay time is always shorter than pressure-based time. The effects ambient environment, injection on pressure history, intensity, duration, heat release rate, other parameters individually. environment has a strong influence by accelerating chemical reactions, whereas high helps vaporization fuel spray. effect non-monotonic as trade-off relation between loss blending oxygen. rate histories under different conditions compared analyzed, two-stage phenomenon observed negative temperature coefficient region. intensity region determined based measured times spray, multiple linear regression correlation used study sensitivity multi-factors.
